Chateau La Bourree
Another great red from the energetic Francois Meynard. Plenty of ripe red and blueberry fruit mixed with cedar notes. Rich flavours of red cherry and red currant with a smooth finish from the oak and a lingering long finish. Jean Francois Meynard, an ex-champion French rower, owns Château La Bourrée and runs his vineyard following the principles of "reasoned agriculture". A great alternative to "organic", practiced by many independent French Winemakers. The appellation of Castillon Côtes De Bordeaux borders the famous Saint-Émilion and has similar tasting wines which are less expensive. Yet the area is still an undiscovered gem in Ireland. Wines from here have tremendous quality and value, as this Château La Bourrée demonstrates.
