Montaribaldi Barbera d'Alba "du Gir" Wine Italy
This 100% Barbera comes from the vineyard Dü Gir in the municipal of Alba. It's aged in oak for 18 months has a ruby red colour with hints of violet. It's intense with scents of plum and blueberries. The palate is full with sensations of fleshy, fresh fruit and at the same time lively bright acidity. With Barbera wines try grilled meats, mushrooms, blue cheese, root vegetables and braised greens. The idea here is that the bright acidity in the wine will make a rich fatty or high tannin dish complete. While it’s most famous for its age-worthy Nebbiolos like Barolo and Barbaresco, Italy’s premium Piedmont region is also home to world-class reds, like Barbera, that are made for enjoying now. Softer and more approachable in its youth than the Nebbiolo used to make Piedmont's most prestigious wines, Barbera is a firm favorite among winemakers and wine drinkers Deep ruby in color, it’s a tasty match for northern Italian dishes like veal Milanese. Tip: Barbera’s famed for being both super-fresh and fruit-rich. For an extra-refreshing kick, try giving this a light chill (15 minutes in the fridge) before serving.
