Swartland Chenin Blanc Wine South Africa
€14,99
Typical tropical guava flavours supported by passion fruit and underlying citrus blossom flavours. The wine is full and rich on the palate with a crisp finish.
The vineyards benefit from the constant cool breezes that blow off the Atlantic Ocean; effectively sustaining the many microclimates, while the proximity to mountain ranges adds its own dimension to the physical character of the fruit.
Chenin Blanc is originally from the Loire Valley in France and was one of the first grapes planted in South Africa in 1655, it is known locally as Steen. It produces a wine with good acidity of floral mineral and citrus aromas and flavours.
Swartland Winery was established in 1948 by a group of local grape growers who wanted to show the world the great wine from their homeland near Malmsbury in South Africa. The land here is ideally suited to the cultivation of Bush Vines, known for producing grapes of excellent quality and flavour. The drier conditions of the region produces smaller grapes packed with flavour from their concentrated minerals and nutrients in the juice.
