Chateau Platon

Black fruit and licorice aroma. Clean, rich deep flavors of cassis. Cedar and tobacco in the lingering finish.

The Dumas-Gauthier family has owned Château Platon in Sainte Radegonde, about ten kilometers southeast of Cotes du Castillon, since 1907. Until Christelle Gauthier, daughter of the previous owner, took over in 2011, the wine was sold in bulk to the local cooperative. The vines grow on ten hectares of gently sloping vineyards with grass grown between the rows in order to limit the yields, and soil is worked three times each season to discourage superficial roots. The 2015 was the first ever vintage to be bottled on the property (with the help of her friend Jean-François Meynard of Château La Bourree) and has been a great success ever since.
