Chateau Platon Bordeaux France
Black fruit and licorice aroma. Clean, rich deep flavors of cassis. Cedar and tobacco in the lingering finish. One of our favourites!
The Dumas-Gauthier family has owned Château Platon in Sainte Radegonde, about ten kilometers southeast of Cotes du Castillon, since 1907.
Until Christelle Gauthier took over in 2011, the wine was sold in bulk to the local cooperative. With the help of a friend and award winning winemaker, Jean-Francois Meynard, Chateau Platon is now producing their own great wines and winning awards of their own!
The vines grow on ten hectares of gently sloping vineyards with grass grown between the rows in order to limit the yields, and soil is worked three times each season to discourage superficial roots. The vineyard follows sustainable practices known as "Lutte Raisonee", popular amount independent winemakers in France who believe in organic and sustainable practices.
