Crisp and bone-dry, it offers bright citrus flavours, delicate floral aromas, and a distinctive mineral finish. With a Vivino rating that places it among the top 7% of wines worldwide, it's a refreshing bottle that's just as enjoyable on a warm evening as it is with food.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

The Profile: A fragrant explosion of freshly squeezed lime juice, lemon blossom, and subtle notes of green apple, backed by an elegant undercurrent of wet slate and flinty minerality. On the palate, it is mouth-wateringly dry and crisp, showcasing pure citrus intensity and a bright, lingering mineral finish.

Classic Pairings:

Freshly shucked native oysters, pan-seared sea bass with garlic butter, or aromatic Thai green curry.  *

Irish Favourite Pairings:

Fresh Dublin Bay Prawns: Sweet, delicate prawns are a natural match for Riesling, with the wine’s citrus and mineral notes enhancing their fresh flavour.

Smoked Irish Salmon on Brown Bread: The wine’s clean, zesty finish balances the richness of smoked salmon without overpowering its delicate flavour.

Classic Seafood Chowder: A creamy Irish seafood chowder is lifted by the Riesling’s refreshing acidity, making each bite feel lighter and more balanced.

 Awards & Accolades

Official Awards: Crafted by a 5 Red Star Outstanding Winery according to the James Halliday Wine Companion, with the flagship "Traditionale" consistently earning outstanding scores of 94 to 96 points from critics like James Halliday and Decanter.

Vivino Recognition: Proudly ranked in the top 7% of all wines in the world and the top 7% of all Clare Valley wines.

How the wine is made

This Riesling is made from carefully selected cool-climate vineyards in the Clare Valley, including the renowned Polish Hill River region. Using only free-run juice and gentle winemaking techniques, it preserves the wine’s fresh citrus flavours, floral aromas, and vibrant acidity while gaining extra texture from a short period on fine lees.

Why we love this producer

Pikes is an icon of the Clare Valley, boasting a family heritage that dates back to 1886 when the family first began brewing beer in South Australia. In 1984, brothers Andrew and Neil Pike pivoted the family's passion toward premium viticulture, choosing the unique, ancient slate soils of the Polish Hill River to craft world-class wines. Today, still proudly family-owned and operated, Pikes represents the absolute pinnacle of dry Australian Riesling—driven by an unwavering commitment to quality, place, and character.

Sustainability & Farming Practices

Vineyard Practices: Pikes employs an impressive array of green practices. They recycle 100% of their winery wastewater and solid grape skins/stalks into compost for the vineyards, while a 99-kilowatt rooftop solar array generates roughly 30% of their electricity. Andrew Pike actively leads local wetland re-vegetation efforts, and chemical use is kept to an absolute minimum by utilizing straw mulching and cover crops to preserve natural soil moisture and biodiversity.
