Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

  • The Profile: A vibrant and elegant sparkling wine with a brilliant straw-yellow hue and a persistent, fine mousse. The nose is greeted by complex aromas of ripe orchard fruits, toasted almonds, and a delicate floral lift, leading to a structured, creamy palate that finishes with refreshing, zesty precision.
  • Classic Pairings: Pairs beautifully with delicate white fish carpaccio, creamy risotto with summer truffles, or aged Grana Padano cheese.
  • Irish Favourite Pairings: For an elevated takeaway night, enjoy this Franciacorta with Crispy Duck Pancakes; the wine’s vibrant acidity and fine, persistent bubbles slice through the richness of the succulent duck and hoisin sauce, creating a perfect, palate-cleansing contrast. For a home-cooked comfort meal, serve it alongside a creamy, herb-roasted chicken dinner; the wine’s toasted, nutty depth complements the savoury roasted skin and succulent meat, while its crisp finish prevents the meal from feeling too heavy.

Awards & Accolades

  • Vivino Recognition: This wine consistently ranks in the top 5% of all wines in the world and the top 4% of all wines from the Franciacorta region, marking it as a truly elite choice for any collector or enthusiast.

How the wine is made

Established in 1987 by the Bozza brothers in Monticelli Brusati, La Montina sits on a historic 17th-century estate originally built by the ancestors of Pope Paul VI. Nestled inside a natural morainic amphitheatre near the northern crown of Lake Iseo, the winery benefits from a unique, lake-cooled microclimate that preserves the vibrant acidity of their grapes. We love this producer because they seamlessly blend high-end traditional winemaking with a vibrant appreciation for contemporary culture, even housing an active modern art gallery right inside their historic subterranean cellars.

Why we love this producer

Established in 1987 by the Bozza brothers, La Montina sits on a historic 17th-century estate originally built by the ancestors of Pope Paul VI. We love them because they seamlessly blend high-end traditional winemaking with a vibrant appreciation for contemporary culture, even housing an active modern art gallery right inside their historic subterranean cellars. They are truly an estate where history, art, and world-class viticulture meet.

Sustainability & Farming Practices

  • Certifications: Practising Integrated Viticulture and certified sustainable management.
  • Vineyard Practices: La Montina treats environmental balance as a core mission, using a custom-built 8,000 square metre underground cellar to regulate temperature naturally and installing modern solar photovoltaic systems for cleaner energy generation. In the vineyards, they apply the "Simonit & Sirch" gentle pruning method to maximise vine longevity and health, use targeted trials of resilient vine clones to combat climate shifts, and carefully limit interventions to protect the natural biodiversity of the Monticelli Brusati landscape.
