This certified organic red from northern Italy is bright, juicy, and easy to drink, with flavours of ripe red cherry, fresh plum, and a gentle hint of dried herbs and spice. Grown on the sun-drenched morainic hills along the eastern shore of Lake Garda, it's light-bodied with lively acidity and soft tannins—making it a classic Venetian red that's fresh, balanced, and incredibly drinkable.
Tasting Notes & Food Pairings
The Profile:
A vibrant ruby red in the glass, opening with lifted floral aromas, wild strawberries, and ripe red cherries intermingled with hints of cracked black pepper and subtle Mediterranean herbs. The palate is dry, harmonious, and deliciously crisp, balancing light, silky tannins with a bright, mouthwatering fruit finish.
Classic Pairings:
Traditional Venetian mushroom risotto, tortellini in sage butter, roasted pork tenderloin, or a board of mild Asiago and prosciutto.
Irish Favourite Pairings
How the wine is made
Crafted from organically farmed Corvina and Rondinella grapes grown across 30 hectares of morainic hillside vineyards near Lazise on Lake Garda. The unique microclimate features warm sunshine tempered by gentle Alpine lake breezes, preserving crisp acidity and bright berry aromatics. Following careful grape selection at harvest, the fruit undergoes soft pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, preserving pure, unadulterated fruit character with zero oak intervention.
Why we love this producer
Azienda Agricola Roccolo del Lago is an extraordinary collaboration born from the union of two iconic winemaking families: Giuseppe Campagnola and Tenute Agricole Francesco Righetti. Set amidst breathtaking lakeside countryside, the estate takes its name from the historic 19th-century "Roccolo" hunting tower that still stands among the vines. We love them because they bring generations of Venetian heritage together under a shared commitment to 100% organic viticulture, producing vibrant wines that truly capture Lake Garda's terroir.
Sustainability & Farming Practices
Certifications: Certified Organic Agriculture under official European Union organic standards.
Vineyard Practices: Farmed with deep respect for the surrounding lake ecosystem, relying on natural cover crops, zero synthetic pesticides or herbicides, and sustainable soil preservation techniques to foster rich biodiversity throughout the estate.
