Awards & Accolades
Official Awards: A trophy-winning flagship Riserva, routinely awarded 92+ Points by Luca Maroni and prestigious Gold Medals at international competitions including *Mundus Vini* and the *Concours Mondial de Bruxelles*.
Vivino Recognition: Holds an outstanding rating among international wine lovers, placing it securely in the Top 3% of all wines in the world on Vivino.
How the wine is made
Crafted from old, low-yielding Montepulciano vines situated nearly 300 meters above sea level in the Teramo hills, benefiting from dramatic temperature swings between the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso mountain range. The grapes are meticulously hand-harvested at peak maturity, strictly sorted, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with extended skin maceration to extract intense colour and structured tannins. The wine then undergoes an extended aging period, spending 18 to 24 months in fine French oak barrels followed by extended resting in the bottle before release to achieve perfect balance and complexity.
Why we love this producer
Established originally in 1966 in the heart of Teramo, Torri Cantine has evolved into a boutique estate spanning 60 hectares of pristine, organic vineyards running between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains. Guided by a commitment to minimal-intervention winemaking and absolute respect for the Abruzzo landscape, they focus on preserving native Italian varieties. We love them because they craft energetic, estate-bottled organic wines that showcase true Italian terroir while staying accessibly priced and utterly delicious.
Sustainability & Farming Practices
Certifications: Certified Organic (EU Organic IT-BIO-009), guaranteeing the vineyards are managed without chemical pesticides, synthetic herbicides, or systemic fungicides.
Vineyard Practices: The estate works in complete harmony with Abruzzo's natural ecosystem, utilizing hand-harvesting, natural cover crops between vine rows to maintain soil health, and minimal sulphur additions during vinification.
