This organically farmed red from Puglia is smooth, fruit-driven and full of southern Italian character. Packed with ripe blackberries, dark cherries and a touch of vanilla spice, it offers plenty of flavour while remaining fresh and beautifully balanced at 12.5% ABV. Highly rated on Vivino, it's a versatile red that's just as enjoyable with a midweek meal as it is shared around the table with friends.

Awards & Accolades
Vivino Recognition: Highly rated by wine lovers on Vivino, ranking among the Top 7% of wines worldwide and the Top 11% of wines from Salento.
How the wine is made
Made by Varvaglione 1921 from 100% organically grown Negroamaro grapes grown in the iron-rich soils of Salento. After harvesting, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled maceration (24–28°C) to extract colour, flavour and soft tannins. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 3–6 months in a combination of French oak tonneaux and American oak barriques, adding gentle notes of vanilla and sweet spice while preserving the fruit.
Why we love this producer
Founded in 1921 near Taranto in Salento, Varvaglione 1921 is a fourth-generation family winery led by Cosimo Varvaglione and his family. Their popular 12 e Mezzo range celebrates the character of Puglia through approachable wines with moderate alcohol (around 12.5% ABV) and plenty of flavour. We love their combination of traditional family winemaking, organic farming and modern styles that consistently deliver exceptional quality and value.
Sustainability & Farming Practices
