The Shire in the French version is the first landscape discovered in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. These large green expanses have seduced the people of Hobbits who settled there. These half-men are considered to be fine epicureans who appreciate the small pleasures of life and are also small winegrowers. It is a region known for being temperate, cool but warm enough to prevent the river from freezing and keep the vines in good condition.
