Grape Agiorgitiko

Anemos Agiorgitiko brings a fresh, vibrant breath of Mediterranean air straight to your glass with its exceptionally smooth and fruit-forward character. This charming Greek red captures the essence of modern, low-intervention winemaking, trading heavy oak textures for pure, juicy joy. It is an absolute crowd-pleaser, an intriguing conversation starter for your next gathering, and the perfect weekend treat to share with friends.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

  • The Profile: A bright, fragrant nose bursting with fresh red cherries, wild strawberries, and a subtle touch of sweet spice opens up to a juicy, medium-bodied palate balanced by soft, rounded tannins and a clean, refreshing finish.
  • Classic Pairings: Pairs wonderfully with grilled lamb skewers, Mediterranean roasted vegetables with feta, and rich tomato-based pasta dishes.
  • Irish Favourite Pairings: An exceptional match for a premium home-cooked shepherd's pie or a gourmet ham and cheese toastie, where the wine's bright fruit profile cuts right through the savory, rich fats of the dish. It also pairs spectacularly well with a Friday night takeaway Spice Bag—the juicy red berry sweetness and balanced acidity handle the salt and mild chili heat beautifully, naturally softening the spice while refreshing the palate.

How the wine is made

Crafted from 100% indigenous Agiorgitiko grapes, this wine benefits from the premium altitude and cooling maritime breezes that sweep across the hillsides of the Peloponnese. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and sorted to select only pristine fruit before undergoing a gentle, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats. This deliberate choice to avoid oak maturation ensures the wine retains its lively primary fruit character, vibrant natural acidity, and soft, highly accessible structure.

Why we love this producer

The estate behind this bottle is a standout family-run property located in the heart of Greece's historic winemaking country, where traditions date back thousands of years. Driven by a passion for modernizing indigenous varietals, the winemakers seamlessly blend old-world heritage with a forward-thinking, clean approach. We love their authentic dedication to showcasing the true potential of the Agiorgitiko grape in a style that remains deeply rooted in its native landscape yet effortlessly accessible for wine lovers in Ireland.

Sustainability & Farming Practices

  • Vineyard Practices: The estate focuses on natural, low-intervention vineyard management, utilizing hand-harvesting techniques and maintaining native cover crops to naturally enrich the soil and foster local biodiversity.
  • Healthier soils naturally yield more vibrant, terroir-driven fruit while protecting the local ecosystem for future generations, allowing the pure, sun-drenched character of the Greek hillsides to express itself cleanly in every bottle.
