A beautifully poised Margaux that combines classic Bordeaux elegance with impressive drinkability. Château d'Arsac  delivers layers of dark berry fruit, floral perfume and refined structure, making it an outstanding choice for roast dinners, special occasions, or anyone looking to experience one of the Médoc's most respected Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel estates. With a 93-point James Suckling score, 91 points from Decanter, and a 4.0 Vivino rating placing it among the top few percent of wines on the platform, this vintage offers exceptional value for serious Bordeaux lovers.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

The Profile: Deep garnet in colour with expressive aromas of violet, blackcurrant, raspberry and subtle white pepper, complemented by elegant toasted oak. The palate is fresh and beautifully balanced, with supple yet structured tannins, concentrated black fruit and a long, refined finish that showcases the finesse of Margaux.

•    Classic Pairings:

o    Herb-crusted rack of lamb with rosemary.
o    Dry-aged ribeye steak with garlic butter.
o    Mature Comté, aged Cheddar or hard sheep's cheese.

•    Irish Favourite Pairings

o    Slow-cooked Irish beef stew – the wine's firm tannins soften against the rich beef, while its fresh acidity keeps every bite feeling balanced.
o    Shepherd's pie – the Cabernet-led structure complements the savoury mince, while the Merlot adds enough softness to work beautifully with creamy mashed potato.
o    Chipper steak & chips or a Spice Bag – the wine's acidity cuts through fried foods, while its ripe fruit stands up well to peppery seasoning and savoury flavours.

How the wine is made

The 2020 vintage is crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon (72%) with Merlot (28%), grown on the deep gravel soils that define the Margaux appellation. Grapes are carefully sorted before parcel-by-parcel vinification, allowing each vineyard block to express its own character. Fermentation takes place under carefully controlled conditions before the wine is matured in French oak barrels, creating silky tannins while preserving freshness and the estate's signature floral elegance. The result is a wine with impressive concentration, balance and excellent ageing potential.

Why we love this producer

Château d'Arsac is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, with a history dating back to the 12th century. Since its revival by Philippe Raoux in 1986, the château has become known not only for producing exceptional Margaux wines but also for blending contemporary art, architecture and winemaking into a truly distinctive estate. Its Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel classification reflects decades of investment in vineyard quality and meticulous winemaking, delivering Bordeaux that consistently overperforms its price.

Sustainability & Farming Practices

Château d'Arsac places environmental stewardship at the heart of its vineyard management.
•    Certifications: Certified High Environmental Value (HVE Level 3).
•    Vineyard Practices: The estate promotes biodiversity throughout its vineyards, carefully manages water resources, encourages natural ecosystems between vine rows, and uses precision viticulture to minimise unnecessary vineyard treatments. Sustainable farming practices and meticulous fruit selection ensure healthy vineyards while preserving the unique character of the Margaux terroir for future generations.
