Tasting Notes & Food Pairings
- The Profile: A vibrant, ultra-dry sparkling wine showcasing pure Chardonnay elegance. Expect refined aromas of white orchard fruits and citrus zest, leading to a laser-focused, chalky palate with fine, persistent bubbles and a clean, bone-dry finish.
- Classic Pairings: Ideally suited for fresh goat cheese, pan-seared scallops, or any Seafood in general.
- Irish Favourite Pairings: For a quintessential Irish treat, pair this with classic Dublin-style fish and chips; the wine’s bracing acidity and fine perlage cut effortlessly through the rich, golden batter, cleansing the palate after every bite. For a home-cooked comfort meal, enjoy it with a creamy seafood chowder filled with local smoked haddock and mussels; the wine’s structural tension and citrus notes provide a brilliant contrast to the creaminess of the soup, highlighting the sweetness of the fresh fish.
Awards & Accolades
- Official Awards: Médaille d’Or at the Concours des Vinalies.
How the wine is made
This Crémant is crafted with absolute precision, utilizing a "sans sulfites ajoutés" approach to ensure the wine remains as pure and expressive as possible. To protect the integrity of the fruit, the estate employs a gentle transport system using conveyor belts to avoid crushing the grapes before they reach the press. This commitment to minimal intervention continues through a meticulous fermentation process, resulting in a sparkling wine that perfectly captures the distinct terroir of the Anjou region.
Why we love this producer
Domaine des Galloires is a true family treasure, owned by the same dedicated family for seven generations. We discovered this estate while traveling through France and were immediately struck by their unwavering devotion to protecting their land. Because they have never exported their wines before, they initially didn't want to sell their wine to us, but our shared love for "real wine" and the connection between our two small family businesses eventually convinced them to share their heritage with us. We are honoured to be the exclusive partner bringing their authentic, Anjou-focused creations to Irish shores.
Sustainability & Farming Practices
Understanding "No Added Sulphites"
You may notice this wine is crafted sans sulfites ajoutés (without added sulphites). While mass-produced supermarket wines often use heavy sulphur additions as a preservative to guarantee shelf-stability, our winemakers have chosen an artisanal path. By omitting these additives, the wine offers a much purer, more vibrant expression of the Chardonnay grape. For many, this is a gamechanger; because the wine is free from the harsh chemicals often responsible for that "heavy" feeling or discomfort in the head and stomach, it offers a remarkably cleaner, more refreshing experience that is much kinder to the body the following day.
· Certifications: The estate holds official Organic and Sustainable certifications, reflecting their commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Vineyard Practices: Their farming practices are centred on total respect for the natural ecosystem. By emphasizing biodiversity and utilizing gentle, non-invasive handling methods from harvest to cellar, they ensure that the unique character of the Loire Valley is preserved in every bottle.
