The vineyards for Urbe Augusta are situated within the Vinho Verde DOC, Portugal's largest wine region.
- Urbe Augusta Alvarinho: A 100% Alvarinho white wine known for its citrus color, high acidity, and aromas of green apple and citrus fruits.
- Location: Northwestern Portugal, stretching from the Minho River (bordering Spain) down to the Douro River.
- Climate & Terroir: The region is known for its lush, green landscapes, high rainfall, and granitic soils, which contribute to the high acidity and fresh character of the wines.
- Sub-regions: While Vinho Verde has nine sub-regions, the Alvarinho variety specifically thrives in the northern sub-regions of Monção and Melgaço, where it reaches its peak expression.
Food Parings:
- Shellfish: Raw oysters, steamed mussels, grilled shrimp, and crab cakes highlight the wine's mineral qualities.
