Organically farmed in the hills of Abruzzo, this Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is rich in ripe plum and blackberry fruit, with soft tannins and subtle spice. Smooth, approachable and full of flavour, it's equally at home with pizza, pasta or a relaxed evening in. Its consistently high Vivino ratings are a testament to its quality and broad appeal.
Tasting Notes & Food Pairings
The Profile:
A deep ruby-purple in the glass, opening with vivid aromas of black cherry, crushed dark plums, and violet petals, backed by subtle hints of cocoa, sweet spice, and rustic herbs. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied and velvety, balancing dark berry fruit against smooth, rounded tannins and a fresh, mouth-watering finish.
Classic Pairings:
Traditional Italian ragù with tagliatelle, grilled lamb chops marinated in rosemary and garlic, or a board of aged Pecorino cheese.

Awards & Accolades
Official Awards: A decorated Italian organic red, earning a Gold Medal at the prestigious *Challenge du Vin*.
Vivino: Holds a standout rating on Vivino, placing it in the Top 6% of all wines in the world and the Top 5% of all Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wines globally.Â
How the wine is made
Grown in certified organic vineyards in the Teramo hills of Abruzzo at an elevation of 290 meters above sea level, where warm coastal sunshine meets cool mountain breezes from the Gran Sasso. The 30+ year-old vines are hand-harvested in early October to capture peak varietal expression and phenolic balance. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats before aging for six months in traditional concrete tanks, preserving the pure fruit intensity, minerality, and silky texture without heavy oak intervention.
Why we love this producer
Established originally in 1966 in the heart of Teramo, Torri Cantine has evolved into a boutique estate spanning 60 hectares of pristine, organic vineyards running between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains. Guided by a commitment to minimal-intervention winemaking and absolute respect for the Abruzzo landscape, they focus on preserving native Italian varieties. We love them because they craft energetic, estate-bottled organic wines that showcase true Italian terroir while staying accessibly priced and utterly delicious.
Sustainability & Farming Practices
Certifications: Certified Organic (EU Organic IT-BIO-009), guaranteeing the vineyards are managed without chemical pesticides, synthetic herbicides, or systemic fungicides.Â
Vineyard Practices: The estate works in complete harmony with Abruzzo's natural ecosystem, utilizing hand-harvesting, natural cover crops between vine rows to maintain soil health, and minimal sulpfur additions during vinification.
